In Waterford, Dr. Mackesy, and in Cork, Mr. W. d'E. Parker, have procured an expression of public opinion that a similar act is desirable in those cities, and I, being desirous that other towns should share the blessings of so good a measure, devoted a few leisure days, in the autumn, to visiting them. The unhealthiness of some of these provincial towns induced me to consult with your Society as to the best remedies for it, and I have, therefore, written this hasty paper, which I feel sets forth very imperfectly the immense importance of the subject. I have omitted those of my notes which refer to minute hygienic details.en
