Description:
This is the second annual report on Abhaile - the national mortgage arrears resolution service, provided free of charge to the borrower. The aim of Abhaile is to: - help insolvent mortgage holders who are at risk of losing their homes; - identify and put in place solutions to their mortgage arrears; - and keep them, wherever possible, in their own homes. Abhaile seeks to get solutions into place for borrowers by providing them with free, independent, expert advice and support tailored to their individual circumstances. This includes financial and legal analysis and advice, identification and negotiation of solutions, and support at court if they are facing repossession proceedings. The unique element of Abhaile is that it brings together, for the first time, in a coordinated way, a range of supports and services for borrowers in home mortgage arrears. Abhaile is jointly coordinated and funded by the Department of Justice and Equality and the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection.
