Despite research on children with SEBD, little is known about their main support, the SNA. SNA’s work has changed to include a pedagogical and behavioural management role. SNAs experience physical and verbal assaults from the children they support. Many feel they are not equipped or trained to manage the behaviour of some students. This study analyses the data generated through interviews on the working life of the SNA. Findings indicate that SNA’s have a complex professional life in schools. This study emphasises the necessary need for training to better training of SNAs to support children with SEBD.
