PUBLISHED
In this paper we shall discuss the use of the multidimensional ACER method to estimate the reliability of a series structural system where the components can be modelled as stochastic processes and where failure is associated with exceedance of critical levels over a specified time period. The failure probability of this kind of dynamic system can be expressed in terms of the joint extreme value distribution of the dynamic response components. The multidimensional ACER method allows a precise empirical estimation of the failure probability of a series structural system.
