Although Irish aquatic insects have been studied for over 150 years, the information is scattered throughout numerous publications. In many groups, no checklists have yet been prepared. Drawing upon published and unpublished data, the authors have compiled the first checklist of the entire Irish aquatic insect fauna. Exactly 1499 species are included in this comprehensive work.
