The National Transport Authority (NTA) recognises the importance of funding infrastructure that meets the needs of all members of society. The NTA IS committed to equality within transport and to the elimination of all forms of discrimination as defined under the Equal Status Acts1. The Equal Status Acts 2000-2018 (‘the Acts’) prohibit discrimination in the provision of goods and services, accommodation and education. The Acts cover the nine grounds of gender, marital status, family status, age, disability, sexual orientation, race, religion, and membership of the Traveller community. It is an objective of the NTA to ensure that infrastructure provided is suitable for all needs and addresses this Act. This document seeks to provide guidance regarding equality within active travel infrastructure to assist with conforming to a transport infrastructure equality objective.en
