dc.descriptionThis painting is signed and dated by the artist. Anne Gore (1709-1771) was the daughter of Sir Arthur Gore, 2nd Bt. and Elizabeth Annesley. She married John Browne, 1st Earl of Altamont, son of Peter Browne and Mary Daly, in December 1729. From December 1729, her married name became Browne. As a result of her marriage, Anne Gore was styled as Baroness Westport on 10 September 1760 and Viscountess Westport on 24 August 1768. (www.thepeerage.com)en
