dc.description | Well known as a Victorian era fairy painter, J.A. Fitzgerald (also known as John Anster or John Austen) appears to have had little or no formal training. From 1845 he was exhibiting at the British Institution and the Royal Academy and by the late 1850s he had become a regular contributor to The Illustrated London News. His works have also been shown at the Society of British Artists and the Watercolour Society. | en |
