dc.descriptionThis drawing was created by Austin Cooper but the original drawings on which these were based were the result of a visit by Gabriel Beranger to Killala on July 13th, 1779. See NLI Ms. 4162, page 17, for Beranger's comments on the tower. The inscriptions described the tower as being 84 feet high, 51 do. in circumference and the wall as being 3 1/2 feet thick. The door depicted on the right is described as being 11 feet off the ground. The image is signed and dated. (www.nli.ie)en
