dc.description'This drawing is a copy of an original by Angelo Maria Bigari which is preserved in the NLI in the Austin Cooper Collection as 2122 TX (3) 9 (see image cgjc1180). It is not known who the artist Sarah Cooper was. Austin Cooper's daughter of that name was not born till 1799, so it may be his wife Sarah, whom he had married in 1786. Her maiden name was Turner, and it may be that the artist and Joseph Turner (who did several of the drawings in the collection) may have been related. This could explain how the style of this drawing is so similar to Joseph Turner's work. Bigari's original may have been in the possession of William Conyngham of Slane Castle at the time this drawing was executed. View of a part of the ancient monastic enclosure of Inishmurray, an island of the coast of County Sligo, Ireland. Visible in this drawing are (a) a beehive cell on the extreme left, (b) St. Molaise's House on the left, (c) The Monastery in the centre, (d) the corner of Teampull na Teineadh to the far right of the drawing. An entrance to the cashel can be seen in the background.' (www.nli.ie) This drawing is signed and dated by the artist. Also see image cgjc1161 for a related image by Bigari.en
