dc.description | Limerick born, Norman Garstin trained at the Academie Royale in Antwerp and then in the atelier of Carolus-Duran in Paris in the early 1880s. He travelled throughout Europe but seems to have enjoyed Brittany in particular. The present painting is possibly a sketch for a much larger painting, 'Among the Pots', exhibited at The Royal Hibernian Academy in 1914, now in the Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery. | en |
