dc.description'Oliver Grace of Gracefield, was born on the 6th of December, 1704, and dying at Kilkenny on the 24th of August, 1781, at 77, and was interred at Arles. He married, in December, 1733, Mary, only daughter and eventual heir to John Dowell, of Mantua House, who died at Gracefield, on the 14th of November, 1765, aged 55, and was buried at Arles. By this lady he had issue two sons, viz. Michael, of Gracefield, his successor, and John'. (J.N. Brewer, Esq. 'The Beauties of Ireland', Vol 2, London: Sherwood, Gilbert & Piper, 1826.) This painting is inscribed in the upper right corner as follows: 'Oliver Grace of Gracefield son of Michael Grace of Gracefield & Mary dt. of John Galwey of Lota obit 1781'.
