dc.descriptionSigned lower right Marg. Carpenter/April 1826. The sitter was the daughter of John Belli of Southampton. She was born in 1783, and married William Howley (1766-1848), Vicar of Andover, later Bishop of London and, in 1805 Archbishop of Canterbury. She and her husband were together responsible for the rebuilding of Lambeth Palace. They had five children. She died in 1860.en
