The following list does not pretend to determine the `best of?? Irish crime writing. Instead, it offers a conspectus of Irish authors of crime fiction, writing in English and Irish, from the mid-nineteenth century to the present day, each represented by a single title. Although most titles are adult fiction, a sampling of crime writing for children and young adults is also included. As with other popular genres, crime fiction moves, sometimes mysteriously, in and out of print. Here, the publication details refer to the first edition but most of the following have been reprinted (often many times and under different imprints) and many are currently in print. For hard-to-find earlier works, we have given the URL for freely available online titles.en
