dc.description.abstract | The estimation of price and income elasticities for broad commodity groups has attracted a sizeable amount of attention from Irish researchers in recent years. As well as a series of single commodity studies, both from time-series and cross-sections, O'Riordan (1976) has presented a set of complete-system estimates. In this paper, a series of estimates using alternative commodity classifications is presented. The theoretical demand model employed is the Linear Expenditure System and the object of the exercise is to obtain a model suitable for the analysis of Government indirect tax revenues. | |
