dc.descriptionThis study commissioned by Forfás from Environmental Resources Management (ERM) provides a high-level assessment of the potential benefits and costs of REACH for Irish industry. REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals) is a European Commission proposal to arrive at better legislation for dealing with chemicals in the European Union. REACH proposes the establishment of a comprehensive regulatory framework governing the manufacturing and use of all chemicals used in Europe. Its key objective is to protect human health and the environment, and to ensure the efficient functioning of the internal market and stimulate innovation and competitiveness in the chemical industry in Europe.en
