This compilation of 56 presidential biographies supplements other previous works that have charted the influence and heritage of the Statistical and Social Inquiry Society of Ireland. Under the stewardship of its Presidents, this learned society has continued to act as a disseminator and repository of knowledge on Ireland’s social and economic concerns. We wish to acknowledge the cooperation and advice of all those who either supplied directly or guided us towards information and material which otherwise would have remained elusive.
