Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is the most common motor neuron disease in adults. The striking heterogeneity that characterizes ALS as disorder is one of the major challenges of research into ALS epidemiology, pathogenesis or therapeutics. The overall aim of this thesis was to investigate the utility of cognitive and behavioural status as phenotypic markers for disease heterogeneity within the ALS population.
