Within the discipline of Ear Nose Throat (ENT) there is very little known about the tapestry that constitutes ENT nursing. Irish healthcare policy has as its core values efficiency, effectiveness and economics which dictate service delivery. If we do not know the unique role of ENT nursing it is difficult to establish their distinctive contribution within the service. This study sought to describe the practice of ENT nursing by establishing the knower, knowing and the known by answering three simple questions. ‘Who’ are the ENT Nurses? ‘What’ are they doing? ‘How’ are they doing it?
