Abstract:
This study aspires to illuminate the stress experienced by primary school teachers in Greece. The impact of stress in the contemporary political, social and economic context, which renders teaching a highly demanding profession, is important not only for the protection of teachers' mental and physical health, but also for its implications for the quality of teaching. The coping mechanisms that teachers use to cope with stress and the policies suggested by them in order to prevent it are presented.
