Abstract:
The benefits of international diversification for portfolio investors have long been highlighted, as historically, low correlations among national stock markets have allowed investors to reduce their risk for a given return. Despite the reduction of many previous barriers to foreign investment, the corresponding increase in international investing that would have been expected as a result, has failed to materialise.
