The Avoca-Avonmore is a potential salmonid river which has been severely impacted by industrial development throughout its length but especially in its lower reaches due to the abandoned Cu-S mines at Avoca. This study examines the effects of topograph , geology, soils and water quality in general on the fisheries potential of the catchment. Done originally in 1992, this study presents a historic overview of the fishes at that time. Electrofishing was conducted throughout the catchment ar critical sites and results are presented including species, size, weight, sex, gut analysis, growth rate and overall condition. Recommendations are made on how to improve the fisheries potential through restoration and habitat enhancement to ensure the catchment is in suitable condition to support successful salmonid populations.en
