dc.description.abstract | Ultrafast transient spectroscopy was used to investigate the properties of various systems which bind to DNA. Visible and IR pump and probe was employed to elucidate excited state process of the DNA binding complexes. Ultra fast inter and intramolecular electron transfer reactions were monitored, via changes in the kinetics of transient species formed. Starting with a simple intercalating dye system where only one chromophore is present, we subsequently studied multi-ligand DNA binding complexes, where the geometries of the Interacting species were less well defined. | |
