The role of vision in haptic spatial cognition

Abstract

In the studies described here the role of vision on haptic spatial cognition was investigated. Since vision is believed to be the most important sense for spatial perception I investigated whether it affects spatial processing in a non-visual modality, namely haptics. The task in all the experiments consisted of an old/new recognition paradigm with an array of objects (i.e. scenes) presented in peripersonal space.
