Abstract:
This thesis focuses on the ability of neurotoxins to affect the activity of the copper
transport protein ceruloplasmin (EC 1.16.3.1; ferroxidase) and its intrinsic oxidase
activities. The protective properties of taurine were also examined, both as an
antioxidant and as a neuroprotective molecule in cultured cells systems and using in
vivo models.
