Abstract:
Candida dubliniensis is a recently described Candida species primarily associated with oral candidosis in Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HlV)-infected and AIDS patients. The population structure of C. dubliniensis was investigated using the C. dubliniensis-specific fingerprinting probe Cd25. Using 98 isolates (81 oral and 17 nonoral) from 94 patients in 15 countries, the existence of two distinct populations of C. dubliniensis, designated Cd25-group I and Cd25-group II, respectively, was confirmed on the basis of DNA fingerprint profiles generated with the Cd25 probe.
