Abstract:
In this study the production and optimisation of carbon nanotubes using the arc discharge method was investigated. The soot produced was analysed for the nanotube content. To remove the nanotubes from the soot a novel method of purification using PmPV was examined. Uniquely, the PmPV shows good interaction with carbon nanotubes. In contrast to other polymers, nanotubes are soluble in PmPV solutions, whereas the nanotube production by-products such as polyhedra and turbostratic graphite fall out.
