Abstract:
Accurate estimates of the ground deformations associated with earthworks and
foundations in boulder clay necessitate the validation of an appropriate soil model within a simplified ground model. Recent advances in numerical and analytical methods in soil mechanics, and boulder clay soil testing in the city of Dublin (Ireland), have given rise to the possibility of the development of such a model within the finite element (FE) method.
