Abstract:
This thesis describes the plants and vegetation composition of alpine areas of
Kanchenjunga Conservation Area, Nepal and relates the pattern to environmental
variables. It evaluates the effects of various environmental factors on species richness
and vegetation composition. Further, it studies various anthropogenic pressures in the
form of grazing and trampling by domesticated cattle and collection of medicinal
plants and quantifies the impacts on the floral diversity, medicinal plants and
conservation efforts.
