The thesis aims to advance an understanding of how to address the complexity of socio-technical systems in a way that integrates diverse elements according to the functional logic that is at the core of the system. Questions are posed about how complex socio-technical systems deliver their outcomes, taking a special interest in the social space of these systems, and how based on this, relevant knowledge can be created systematically and utilised effectively.
