Taxation and political models

Abstract

This thesis is a collection of three separate essays. Each essay deals with taxation policy directly or the expectation of future taxation by an electorate during a time of war. In terms of taxation, this essay generally focuses on transaction taxes levied against some or all of the banking system. Various versions of these taxes have been proposed to generate large government revenues and help maintain financial stability.
