Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, 2019-12, Irish wildlife manuals, No.116, 2019Abstract:
This volume provides checklists of the plant and animal species that are afforded legal protection in Ireland, through the Nature Directives (Birds and Habitat Directives), and the Wildlife Acts and associated Statutory Instruments (e.g. the Flora (Protection) Order). Each checklist also includes species that have been assessed as at risk of extinction on the island of Ireland using the IUCN Regional Red List criteria. All threatened species are listed, i.e. those categorised as Critically Endangered (CR), Endangered (EN) and Vulnerable (VU). Species assessed as Regionally Extinct (RE) and Near Threatened (NT) are also given in the checklists. In total, 1,050 species are included in the checklists. This IWM was edited by Áine O Connor
