dc.description.abstractIt has been my anxious desire to propose only such modifications as are requisite in order to carry out the fundamental principles, and thus to realize the essential benefits of Tribunals of Commerce. With this view I endeavoured to procure authentic and authoritative statements respecting the actual working of some such court, in which, under the presidency of a barrister, the mercantile judges occupy that position and exercise that influence which I believe to be indispensible for the administration of commercial justice.en
