It is Government policy that all premises in Ireland should have access to high speed broadband and that no citizen should be left behind as the digital revolution continues. the National Broadband Plan (NBP) outlines the Government's commitment to deliver high speed broadband to every premises in Ireland, regardless of location, through a combination of commercial investment and a State intervention. While there is good progress being made in terms of commercial deployment, there is a very large number of premises, primarily in harder to reach rural areas that are not commercially viable and therefore the Sate intends to step in to ensure those premises are not left behind. This challenge is not unique to Ireland.en
