| dc.description | The yacht ‘Loa Zour’ sailed with five crew onboard from Kinsale, Co Cork on the 3rd June 2019 with an intended destination of A Coruña, northern Spain. As the yacht approached the north coast of Spain on the 6th June the yacht’s crew issued a Mayday broadcast and activated the vessel’s Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB) as they experienced severe difficulties in storm force conditions from Storm Miguel. The crew were airlifted from the yacht by a Spanish Maritime Rescue helicopter (Salvamento Alvamento Maritimo) and taken ashore to A Coruña airport.
The yacht ‘Loa Zour’ was located adrift two days later and boarded by the crew. The yacht was subsequently navigated into the port of A Coruña. | en |
