Two poems published by John Tyndall (under the pseudonym "W.S.") in 1841 in his local newspaper The Carlow Sentinel are presented and their historical context revealed. The poems are of a political nature and intended to rally the local Protestant community to vote for Henry Bruen in the forthcoming election. Daniel O'Connell canvased in Carlow for the Catholic candidates.
