| dc.description.abstract | The demand for home-based long-term care Is expected to grow as our population ages. This thesis aimed to address current knowledge deficits related to the distribution and determinants of home-based social care utilisation In older adults In Ireland. Three interrelated studies, cross-sectional in design, were conducted using data from two population based ageing studies; the Survey of Health Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE) and The Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA). The behavioural model of health services use provided the conceptual framework for the research (Aday and Andersen, 1974). | |
