Abstract:
Bovini mitochondrial sequences were analysed at levels from intra-population studies to
inter-species analyses. D-loop sequences were analysed to draw conclusions about the
domestication of water buffalo and the demographic histories of wild and domesticated
bovids. Complete mitochondrial genome sequences were used to construct a Bovini
phylogeny, confirm D-loop analysis of the domestication history of Bostaunis and
search for evidence of mitochondrial recombination.
