This thesis entitled "Synthesis of Novel 1,8-Naphthalimide Derivatives: From the Development and Biological Evaluation of Anticancer Agents to Fluorescent and Colorimetric Anion Chemosensors" is divided into six chapters, and is in two parts. The first part, Chapters Two and Three, deals with the use of naphthalimide derivatives as anticancer drugs. The second part, Chapters Four and Five, deals with the use of related naphthalimide compounds and fluorescent and UV colorimetric chemosensors for anions.
