Abstract:
The design and synthesis of small organic molecules which effectively mimic the
hydrogen-bonding capabilities of enzymes has recently become a flourishing branch of
the fascinating, emerging area of organocatalysis. Herein we detail our contribution to
the field which allowed the identification and development of a set of asymmetry
inducing transformations mediated by chiral bifunctional derivatives of natural cinchona alkaloids.
