Emotional regulation is a key mechanism which shows disturbances during major depressive disorder (MDD), and which may be modified by certain factors enhancing vulnerability to MDD. Two vulnerability factors were tested in this study: family history of MDD and Val66Met gene polymorphism (rs6265). In previous research, both factors have been found to have a connection to emotional regulation, and therefore to represent modifiers of vulnerability to MDD.
